The InterContinental Stephen F. Austin places guests in a distinguished location four blocks from the Texas Capitol Building, in the heart of Austin’s central business district. The Stephen F., as native Austinites call it, opened its doors in 1924, becoming the first high-rise on Congress Avenue. A faithful restoration returned the Beaux Arts–style landmark to its former glory while adding all the conveniences that twenty-first-century travelers have come to expect.
The latest word in luxury begins in the 189 rooms and suites, where fluffy duvets, marble baths (with phones, of course), ergonomic desk chairs and high-speed Internet access come standard. New to the hotel, Business Class guestrooms cater to meeting travelers with sophisticated multimedia computers, free Internet access and local calls, as well as complimentary breakfast. Thirty-two Club InterContinental rooms add access to a separate registration area, executive lounge, a fitness center and an indoor lap pool.
The hotel’s 6,000 square feet of meeting space occupies a single floor and includes a ballroom for up to 400 guests and The Cloakroom, a boardroom for high-powered meetings requiring added privacy. A business center, shipping services and executive concierge assistance lend support for last-minute needs. Behind the scenes, an international culinary team applies its expertise to make every event, including themed gatherings, extraordinary for every guest.
Before or after meetings guests maintain their workout regimens at the onsite health club or nearby golf and tennis facilities. Just steps away, guests take in the eateries of the popular Warehouse District, the lively nightlife of the Sixth Street Entertainment District, and shopping in the new 2nd Street Entertainment District.
Several dining venues onsite add to the hotel’s allure, including Café Julienne for breakfast, Roaring Fork with its extensive lunch and dinner menu, and Stephen F’s Bar & Terrace, a club-style lounge offering fabulous views of the Texas State Capitol.

The Stephen F. Austin was a great location for one of our board meetings. Located centrally in Texas, all attendees had short travel time and upon arriving at the hotel were able to easily check-in without any hassle. We took advantage of the private registration area and our executive team commented on how the process was one of the best they have experienced. A highlight of the Stephen F. Austin is its location in Texas, because many of our executives brought their spouses, they were able to enjoy the nightlife that is within walking distance of the hotel.
